Apartment Oliveira is set back about 400m from the waterfront in Santa Luzia on the ground level of a small complex with immediate access to enclosed landscaped gardens and a shared pool area.
Santa Luzia is a small fishing village, located in the Eastern Algarve, about 30 minutes from Faro airport (by motorway) and 5 mins from the 17th Century town of Tavira on the River Gilão (with its many bars and restaurants and famous Roman Bridge).
Santa Luzia has a number of mini markets, a pharmacy, hairdresser, bank with cash machine, and a few places for bike rental and boat tours. The larger supermarkets and a fresh food and fish market are located in Tavira, where you will also find a new shopping centre on the outskirts (the Grand Plaza) with numerous recognisable high street brands and shops.
The village has excellent seafood restaurants, cafés and bars overlooking the Ria Formosa, serving traditional Portuguese and Algarve fayre, along the seafront and in the small cobbled streets and squares.
Other nearby activities include the water parks: Aqualand at Loulé (35 minutes drive), Aquashow at Quarteira, Slide & Splash at Lagoa and you can swim with dolphins at Zoomarine in Guia (40 minutes drive/near Albufeira).
There is also a sailing school (Clube Nautico de Tavira) located in Quatre Aquas just outside Tavira (5 mins) which offers children’s and adult training courses and events.
The Eastern Algarve has retained its unspoilt Portuguese charm with traditional fishing villages, blue flag beaches and small rural villages set in rolling hills. The Ria Formosa is a natural reserve and a number of boat operators offer a variety of river cruise excursions from Tavira and Santa Luzia throughout the year (from one to five hour in duration), taking in the local flora and fauna, sea life and beautiful scenery.
